With our range of high-profile Clients, it's obvious that standards had to be high in our choice of Warehouse Management System; with over 250,000 sq ft of Warehousing, nothing short of a reliable, best of breed solution would do. Our main focus when it came to computerising our stock control system was to have the ability to cope within a real-time, RF environment and link to our customers' systems electronically; In some cases, having real-time links was a contractual requirement.

We looked for expertise within the industry and employed a Warehouse Systems expert who had over 10 years experience of designing, selecting, and implementing systems for global third party logistics organisations. After an extensive selection process we chose LocateIT, a Warehouse Management System from Clandestine Software. The partnership between Taygroup and Clandestine is one of complete understanding; in fact there has never been an instance of Clandestine not being able to help with any of our Clients' requests and although LocateIT is extremely functionality rich, the system adheres to strict processes, which facilitates first-class working practices throughout the operation.

The WMS not only allows for real-time communication to our Clients but to our other internal systems too; with full traceability from the point of receipt, up until the actual delivery, Clients are able to receive up-to-date information on the location of their product at all times. With a whole raft of EDI links available, user definable timed reports and online access for Clients across the Internet, the system allows for any number of real-time 'snapshots' of Key Performance Indicators to be viewed at the touch of a button, 24 hours a day. Implementations and Projects Manager, Paul Haines, states, "with an average of around 35,000 pallet movements each week, real-time systems monitoring for our Clients is a pre-requisite. With the confidence we have in LocateIT and our partnership with Clandestine, we believe that anything is possible and pride ourselves by being able to offer a more flexible and cost effective service than other suppliers".
