FORS (Freight Operator Recognition Scheme) is a unique industry-led membership scheme that offers practical advice and guidance to freight operators to improve all areas of freight distribution, including helping them drive down costs and become safer, with more environmentally focused drivers.
The aim is to promote safer and more fuel-efficient operations through better driver behaviour with lower Co2 emissions and fewer collisions.
The scheme’s main partners include the Metropolitan Police, the Health & Safety Executive, VOSA, London Development Agency, Skills for Logistics, and Transport for London. Taygroup have recently been audited by FORS in response to our application to the scheme. The audit was carried out by the Metropolitan Police, whereupon the Company's systems were subjected to intense scrutiny.
Taygroup had to satisfy no less than 24 specific criteria, which fell into the following categories:
· Drivers and driver management
· Vehicle Maintenance and Fleet Management
· Transport Operations
· Managing the Performance of our Operations
Happily, Taygroup passed the audit with flying colours, and now become a member of the scheme at Bronze level. As it is a new scheme, every member is currently at the Bronze level, and each is expected to progress through to Silver and Gold, as the initiative develops.
